Websites that receive many inbound links can be more likely to rank higher in search engines. Basically, inbound links tell site crawlers that your website is an authority on a certain subject -- so the more inbound links you have from high quality, high authority sites, the better your website can rank in search engine results pages (SERPs). Because Google likes sites that link out to good quality content, publishing your own curated content can be a very smart move. There are ways to do a bulk search on a list of URLs to check if any of the pages contain a link to yours, but if you're checking this on a daily basis, it's probably just as fast to do a quick manual check. At one time, directories like DMOZ were a good place to add listings and get backlinks. However, these large web directories aren’t really relevant anymore.
Overusing topic tags can be harmful
The search engines focus on quality content, with articles that are longer than 2,000 words often being featured on page one. With that in mind, it’s worth scheduling some long-form posts into your content calendar. Similar to your title

or ABC. Its that simple! meta descriptions are a simple, but highly effective way to improve your SEO. Meta descriptions are used to generate the small paragraph of text that appears below a page’s title in the search results. Writing for humans is just the first part of your SEO strategy and one that works with our next tactic, namely giving visitors what they want. As well as great quality content you need a website that is easy to use and provides a great user experience – in other words, don’t make your visitors think. If your website is hard to navigate, information is difficult to find or the design is too busy then visitors are unlikely to stick around no matter how well written your content is. Create landing pages for your chosen key search terms. They must be relevant to users and contain the information they need.
How to get high rankings in Google's local results
The SEO updates depend upon Google’s algorithm updates. We all know that Google is the pioneer in the search marketing, different Google Algorithm Updates play a significant role in optimization of your website. Get your website reviewed
by a popular and authoritative review site. Unpaid reviews are best since they offer value to customers that are not swayed by cash incentives. Make sure that your website is structured in a way that is friendly to search engines. If it’s tough for a search engine to crawl your site and index everything properly, you won’t get the SEO love that you deserve. Quality content rules the digital landscape, yes — but what’s often forgotten is that even the best and most authoritative content needs to be built with the modern Internet in mind.
Distribute page authority and ranking power throughout the site
It becomes a nightmare for a business owner to discover that that his/her main business website has been penalized by Google. Not all declines in rankings are caused by penalties but only a fraction of those. ‘Mobile indexing first’ means that Google will look at the mobile version of your site to decide how high you should rank. The macro approach to keyword research is necessary for content heavy websites (and optimizing for traffic), but not ideal when doing intent-focused keyword research, as would be the case for Ecommerce, software, or other scenarios where some keyword phrases are going to carry significantly more qualification. We asked an SEO Specialist
, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "When you’re looking at a competitor’s web page source code, you’ll see the title tag near the top of the page, along with a bunch of
tags used to describe the page’s content. If the site includes it, the meta name= ”keywords” tag should be a few lines below. Both of these contain your competitor’s keywords."
Keep your site updated and full of very useful content
Create a list of articles with links that are similar or closely related to your content. The more webpages use
the same keyword to point to a subpage, the more signals the search engine will receive indicating that this landing page must be very relevant for this keyword. This in turn means that the page will be ranked better for this and other similar keywords. The well-publicised Panda and Penguin updates have had a significant (and in my view, positive) impact on the discipline of SEO. Coming up with great content is important to the longevity of any website, but finding the right “hot” keywords to use and implementing them in ways which look natural and read in a fluid fashion is just as important as coming up with a good article, blog post, recipe or other bit of information.
